Gaining a reputation for excellent diving, coupled with endless beaches, its easy to see why this island is becoming a hot destination for divers! Concentrating on the less-busy south-east corner of the island, there are spectacular drop-offs with pristine reefs and newly-discovered dive sites. The optimum time to go is from September to October, and December to March/April (July to August tend to have rougher sea conditions, although diving can be done year round).

This is an ideal place to learn or develop experience as the the currents are gentle and there is an array of shallow dive sites. Water temperature ranges from 25oC in winter to 31oC in summer.

Wall Diving: Starting at 25 metres, these untouched walls are the perfect environment for 'big encounters' ranging from oceanic sharks and huge sting rays to groupers and Barracuda. At depth even the reef life is large! Dive spots include: The Blue Wall, Turtle Garden, Cave 20, Ukweli Reef

Coral Slopes: Starting at 8 metres and descending slowly to approximately 20 metres, you will be amazed at the different shapes and sizes of corals surrounded by colourful reef fish. These are great places for macro photography and relaxed long dives. Dive spots include: Ciupis Garden, Fisherman Point, Mwamba Reef, Oba-Oba

Discover the Unexplored: For experienced divers only, sometime exploration dives are organised in search of new dive spots. with the help of GPS and Echosounder, new locations can be found; a special experience to be the first to dive a previously undiscovered reef!

Barrel Sponges: For turtle-lovers, these are the dive spots not to be missed! On sandy bottom at approximately 23 metres dark sponges can be found filled with colourful reef life: the ideal hiding places for morays and feeding ground for sea turtles. Huge stingrays, Eagle rays and sometimes Guitar sharks are also seen at these locations. Dive spots: Ciupis Sponges, Pale Pale Reef, Sponge Reef
