Protea Banks and Aliwal Shoal area: accommodation in and around Margate/Shelley Beach (Protea Banks) and Umkomaas (Aliwal Shoal) vary from decent B&B’s to basic hostels. Typical B&B accommodation... Nolangeni Lodge: This elegant, comfortable lodge boasts panoramic views of the ocean, lagoon and St Michaels-on-Sea beach. The outdoor lounge is just the place for relaxing and watching the ships go by or being entertained by the activities of the resident swallows that nest on the terrace. Here the sun rises above the sea to the sounds of waves and many different wild bird calls. Breakfast is served on the terrace over looking the sea where dolphins and whales can be spotted. Nolangeni Lodge offers stylish en suite accommodation and all rooms are individually decorated. The rooms have private entrance, ceiling fans, television, hairdryers and hospitality trays. Umkomaas Guest House: Relaxed B&B in close proximity to all dive operations. There is a choice of rooms, including suites, and a lounge, TV room, pool, gym, breakfast room. This guest house has won the National Accommodation Association Customer Service Excellence Award 2004/2005, and was also runner-up in the KwaZulu Natal Tourism Service Excellence Awards 2005/2006. There is a small splash pool in the garden for those who prefer fresh water to the sea. Sabastians, the nearby restaurant, is a local institution and specializes in seafood and grills.
SODWANA BAY: back to nature is the order of the day... Mseni Lodge: situated in the Sodwana Bay National Park with direct access through the dune forest to the beach. This small lodge has chalet-style units with a central restaurant and bar overlooking the Indian Ocean, and a swimming pool. |
