Tours of
the incredible Victoria Falls, a World Heritage Site, are a must as they
give guests an opportunity to experience one of the 7 natural wonders of
the world. Livingstone’s reputation as the adventure capital of Africa is
richly deserved and guests have a wide range of activities on offer, such
as, bungi jumping, white water rafting, horse back safaris, elephant back
safaris and helicopter flights over Victoria Falls as well as game drives
in the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park where guests can see a variety of game
including white rhino, elephant, buffalo and giraffe.
When planning your visit to
the Falls it is worth considering whether you want to see the them in full
flood when the the roar of the water is overwhelming and you will get wet
from the amount of spray. Alternatively you can visit when the falls are
almost down to a trickle which allows you to see more of the actual rock
formation and activities such as white water rafting are at their most
exciting (due to the lower water level, the rocks are closer to the surface
making a more turbulent ride!). You may also get the chance to swim right up
to the edge of the falls, an activity available for only 4 months of the
year when the currents are not too strong. Which ever time of year you
go, a helicopter flight is worth doing as the sight of the falls and gorges
is fantastic from the air.
