With regret due to political unrest,
we have decided to withdraw Madagascar from our portfolio of
destinations. Extracts from
www.fco.gov.uk:
"There has been political unrest in
Madagascar since January 2009, which has resulted in a number of
deaths. The political situation remains fluid and subject to unexpected
change ... We advise against travel to the centre of Antananarivo unless
absolutely necessary. The situation remains unstable and visitors should
avoid any crowds or political gatherings which may occur ...
After the announcement of a new "transitional government", there have
been reports of renewed protests and demonstrations in Antananarivo."
Sun-kissed beaches, azure ocean boasting natural coral reefs teeming
with exotic fish, breathtaking sunsets and a tropical climate combines
with absolute tranquillity, natural beauty and unique flora and fauna,
provide the perfect setting for an unforgettable getaway in this
paradise.
Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world and lies in the
Indian Ocean off the south east coast of Africa. Apart
from its scenic beauty, Madagascar is of course famous for its unique
wildlife, especially the different species of lemurs. Tourism is
relatively new to Madagascar and there is little in the way of resort
development, making it an exciting place to visit.
It has
a subtropical climate, with cooler conditions in the mountains. Rainy
season is from November to March. Dry season is from April to October.
Monsoons can bring cyclones to the east and north from December to
March.
