The Cape Peninsular is the
meeting point of two great oceans: the Atlantic and the Indian. This
convergence of cooler and warmer waters supports a range of aquatic life
including kelp forests, varieties of Cat sharks, seals and even penguins. The colonies of Cape fur seals
attract Great white sharks.
Southern right and Humpback
whales migrate north from the cold waters of the Antarctic up to the
warmer waters off Mozambique and Tanzania. From June these gigantic
mammals can be seen along the east coast and in the bays around the
Cape, often breaching or with young calves.
