Accommodation is limited in this area and tends to be in Bed & Breakfasts or Self-catering units. The accommodation we book are used to hosting divers and make every effort to make your stay welcoming, including swapping the customary cooked breakfasts for a packed brunch which can be eaten between dives.

Umkomaas Guest House

This friendly guest house is situated in the Umkomaas, the gateway to diving Aliwal Shoal, and is run by an English couple who decided to seek warmer weather! Situated opposite the small crafts harbour and meeting point for the diving at Protea Banks, this self-catering unit is also well placed to walk (only a couple of minutes) to the Shelly Centre which has shops, restaurants, supermarket and cafes.
